A good opening to what might be a good movie

I think you did a great job with the scenery and the overall aesthetics and feel to the movie all worked very well together.

The animation was fairly clean and the character designs were nice. But one thing I thought could have used some work was the facial expressions a bit more. Some of the characters just seemed to have the same expressions over and over again, and also sometimes their eyes are too wide open, but that's not a huge deal really.

I can say that I can't wait until you come out with Episode 2 and really show us what you got in mind, because I am sure you will not disappoint.

Great job :D

TheFlashFrame responds:

thanks for the suggestions :)

Great Reel

I think all six of these smaller projects worked very well together. I think one of the things that sold it is that you chose upbeat music to match each part, with the exception of one that shouldn't have music anyways.

Walk Cycle - You show Steven Tyler how it's done!

Kid's Show Jingle - It was good because there was violence.

Show Reel Intro - Although there was no music, the sound effects were quirky and worked well.

Character Turn Around - That's one happy scarecrow.

Lip Sync - I was hoping for more dialogue to get a fuller feel of the lip sync, but I guess that will do for now.

Retardo's Rise To Power - I really enjoyed the color scheme of the movie, and I think it all worked out very well together. The art was great, but there didn't really seem like there was a whole lot of actual animation involved in this flash, which was either meant this way, or it was just a I got lazy thing, but I can see that go both ways, so meh ;P.

I think overall everything was nicely done. Nothing was perfect, but nothing was bad either. Each part seemed to flow with each other very well, and once put together, formed a strong cohesive effort that shows in this show reel.

Great job and keep up the good work.

Budj responds:

Wow, thanks alot! Very much appreciated. The Retardo's Rise to Power assignment was make everything move (like South Park style) without any real animation, so it was purposely like that. It's the one thing I didn't like about it. :<

A Great Result

I think you did a fantastic job on a great classic.

The animations were very clean, and I thought that the zooming and so on were used well and effectively.

The battle portions throughout were all solid considering what you had to work with, and in general I felt you kept to the core values of the game, and didn't do anything to out of this world to make it feel like it could never happen in the game.

And using the point as the main boss was a nice touch to the overall feel of the flash. I especially thought the drop down window paste thing was rather clever and worked well.

There were some small minor stuff that wasn't the best, such as the opening which felt a bit laggy at times, but I that pretty much disappeared when the main scene started, so that was probably your "testing" phase with the sprites ;P.

I was hoping for more at the end, something a little less anti-climatic, but as you said before, it could easily just be tweaked if you had more time, so didn't hurt the overall feel to the flash.

Overall I think everything in this flash was very well done. All the aesthetics were all done wonderfully and worked well together. And ripping all the sprites yourself, you definitely get some props for that work.

Anyways, great job on a nice flash.

Pienkaito responds:

Wow, you have no idea how much this comment means to me. =D
I really thank you for the positive and well-written comment.

Wow...

I can't see how this will not be at the top, or right next to the top.

This was really incredibly amazing.

The animation was fantastic, the attention to detail was just wonderful, the flow of the flash was just great.

And the way you used the music, instead of letting the music do the work, was just incredible.

I commend you for a fantastic job sir, and once again, great job!

DonkeysBazooka responds:

comprehensive review. thanks!

Lol

I like the kid who had no idea what he was.

Great job blending real video with animations.

This flash was indeed quite enjoyable and a Happy Halloween indeed.

Cute Blob

I have to admit, at the start of the flash, I sort of had an idea of where it was going, but by the time I finished watching, I was pleased to find something completely different than what I expected.

Fantastic job and Happy Halloween!

manuelberja responds:

thanks dude, what's your idea about the ending? it will help.
happy Halloween!

Pretty good start

All of the basics were covered pretty well, but a few suggestions.

Generally when working with sprites, you want to make sure that the sprites themselves will take up a good amount of space on the actual document size. So the sprites should be a bit bigger, instead of having all of the sprites so small compared to the actual bg even though I understand you were trying to go for that epic battle look.

You may want to try a higher fps rate since you're doing fighting and using a lot of blurring. Sprites tend not to look as good if you're doing blurring at a lower fps. I would suggest at least 24 fps if you're going to try for it.

When the ground is moving to show hes running fast, the far away background should also move as well to give a sense that hes moving with the scene, instead of just the ground moving.

But for your first flash its a good start.

Good job and keep up the good work.

Wow

That was actually surprisingly great for a first flash, and I do have to say, it turned out great. The 40 fps was totally worth it since everything flowed very smooth, and in general the animation is really what sold this flash. But unfortunately it was a bit short, and wasn't much of a story there, but that's why it's a short. Even though it didn't score the best, I will say this now, this was a fantastic job for a sprite flash on your first try. Keep up the good work.

DeadGhost responds:

You know what they say...well nothing
I really like your review on this sprite flash and all of yours. Ill make sure to not make short thank you all :D

Welcome back to the game :D

I heard from Kuro what happened with FSM7, so I can understand why you would have a hard time being motivated to finish it. I would too if that happened to me :*(. But at least project seemed to have helped hold you over and probably gave you the drive to not only finish this one, but also FSM7 :D.

Great job on the flash. Like you said, it does start off a bit slow, but that's sort of how Queen songs work anyways, so the ss of the different versions of the game worked well. Nice job on the band play. I did notice one thing though. The blinking sprite for green link seems to be off on the frame when he blinks. The sprite squeezes inwards when he blinks. Only thing I caught that was a little off though. Otherwise top notch work.

Hope to see FSM7 out soon and take care bud ;P

It was alright

Expecting it 4.25 or higher? Even if it did get that high, it definitely doesn't deserve it. It was just alright. Not that great. I think you're thinking a little too highly of yourself. In fact I hope you don't get 4.25 or higher so you don't have to continue this since its overrated either way.

purefey responds:

Thanks for the review.

Who knows when I'll be back. Maybe 2015?
